Nicaragua 2003 Building Sustainable Livelihoods for the food Insecure/Vulnerable Groups The project objectives were: to carry out a  study of the situation of the domestic market of fish and fishery products in Managua with the objective of train women of the Nicaraguan fishery sector. The situation diagnosis approached the following topics: domestic market; artisanal communities; the woman in the industrial activity; fish sale retailers; fishmarkets; supermarkets; etc.   Basing on the conclusions of the study is planned next year to develop training material to carry out a series of training seminars for the Nicaraguan women of the sector INFOPESCA
Regional 2003 Study on the tuna fishery industry in Latin America and the Caribbean The activities were: - collect regional and national data and information on tuna markets and industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, its socio- economic importance and profitability, with a particular focus on the following countries: Argentina, Brazil (as main tuna importers), and Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico (as main tuna producers and exporters)  - make comments to the draft report titled “The Tuna Fishery Industry: Market and Socio – economic importance” . Regional (Caribbean) 2002 Trade Facilitation in the CARICOM Fishery Sector The objective of this project was to formulate a trade facilitation project as a component of the Regional Special Programme for Food Security  with particular attention given to food quality and safety standards, trade and commodity development programmes, transitory and compensatory measures relating to the environment, and capacity building required for effective participation in multilateral trade negotiations.
