Europe Latvia 2003 - 2004 Food Safety and Market Orientation Issues in the fisheries industry The purpose of the project is to improve the fish processors knowledge about production of safe fish products, in accordance with EU regulations, and to increase their knowledge of market demands as regards food safety.  Traceability issues are also incorporated and two other Baltic countries (Estonia, Lithuania) and Poland will be linked to the project EUROFISH
Europe Romania 2001- 2002 HACCP and Pre-requisite programmes for the fisheries industry Training project for the Romanian government competent authority and industry in international food safety systems, based on the HACCP approach. Workshops were held on pre-requisite programmes and on HACCP. A final audit visit to factories in the programme was followed by a review workshop EUROFISH
Europe Bulgaria 2000- 2001 HACCP and Pre-requisite programmes for the fisheries industry  Training project for the Bulgarian government competent authority and industry in international food safety systems, based on the HACCP approach. Europe Poland 2002 Quality management workshop for the fisheries industry Courses on pre-requisite programmes, HACCP and risk management for fish processors, health officers and veterinary inspectors. In total 31 people - fish processors, health officers and veterinary inspectors - were trained. The expertise built up during the workshops was then disseminated throughout the fishery branch by the Polish experts EUROFISH
Europe Albania 1999 Technical Assistance to the Fishery Directorate The project scope was to assist the Fishery Directorate to establish the first fisheries and aquaculture Strategic National Plan. Eurofish provided short-term experts on aquaculture, fish processing and, fishery credit and investment whose missions are shortly described below: identification of aquaculture development priorities that would eventually be included in the National Fishery Strategic Plan, assessment of the Albanian fish processing sector, recommendations on the needs of the sector, seminar on an introduction to HACCP, report on opportunities for sourcing credit for the fisheries sector, including aquaculture EUROFISH
Europe Denmark 1999 Evaluation of DIFTA (Danish Institute for Fisheries Technology and Aquaculture) The task involved an evaluation of DIFTA’s level of technical competencies also within the certification of HACCP procedures at enterprise level EUROFISH
Europe Regional (Baltic) 1999 Restructuring of the canning industry in the Baltic States (BS): Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania The project purpose was to improve the sustainability of the fish canning industry of the BS through a market diversification process, whereby access may be gained to new markets and the introduction of quality value added products may increase the financial result.Following missions took place:  1. Inception visit in the 3 BS  2. Market Study - of the consumer needs and preferences in Central and Western Europe  3. Restructuring Study in the 3 BS  4. Training Seminars in the 3 BS  5. Europe Turkey 1999 Quality management workshop for the fisheries industry The course covered international regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and prerequisites programmes, the scientific basis for hazard analysis, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles and implementation, Sanitary Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), and investment and financing options.  Participants were required to develop HACCP and SSOP plans for the case studies, based upon a field visit and a case study.  Delegates were provided with course material and books for reference EUROFISH

Europe Russia 1997 Workshop on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) for the fisheries industry The task involved the preparation and execution of a 3 day course in HACCP methods for the  fish processing industry EUROFISH
